Updates December 30 2023:
INSTRUCTIONS TO THE PROVISIONALLY SELECTED Ph.D. CANDIDATES:
Date of Admission: Tuesday 9 Jan 2024
  1. The selection will be confirmed subject to the verification of the certificates through MIS.
  2. The following documents should be scanned and uploaded (Self-attested photocopy) in the Institute web portal from 02-01-2024 (11.00 a.m.) to 05-01-2024 (5.00 p.m.). failing which your admission will be cancelled.
    1. Intimation mail (Provisional Admission Letter)
    2. Fee Receipt
    3. Transfer Certificate
    4. SSLC / equivalent for proof of date of birth
    5. UG and PG Degree or Provisional Certificate
    6. UG and PG Consolidated Statement of Marks or Grade sheets
    7. GATE / National level qualifying examination scorecard for Full Time – HTRA candidates (Science Departments)
    8. Certificate of Category (GEN-EWS / OBC-NCL / SC / ST), if applicable, issued by the competent authority as per the prescribed format given in Annexure-I (GEN-EWS / OBC-NCL certificate must have been issued on or after 01.04.2023)
    9. CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF/DST-INSPIRE/Equivalent certificate for Full Time – Externally funded candidates
    10. Office order from R&C division for Full Time Ph.D. – Externally Funded - Project candidates
    11. NoC from Registrar for Part Time (Internal Staff)
    12. Sponsorship Certificates for Ph.D. candidates if applicable
        a. Part Time - External (Industry R&D): Forms - 1 & 2 and bio-data of external guide
        b. Part Time – External (On campus): Form - 3
    13. Certificate for Person with Disability (PwD) if applicable
    14. Aadhar Card or any govt recognized photo ID
    15. Relieving letter if applicable
    16. Medical fitness certificate
  3. Fee Details and other formats could be referred from Annexure I
  4. MIS Registration:
    1. (Use Mozilla Firefox). Candidates are requested to follow the 'INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES (Ph.D.)' on the MIS portal
      a. Link for MIS registration and uploading certificates: https://misreg.nitt.edu/STUDENTREG
      b. The candidates have to read 'INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES (Ph.D.) before making registration.
      c. For any technical clarification, they can send mail to travi@nitt.edu
      d. Candidate's application number should be preceded by PHD (For example, the application number 231721 should be entered as PHD231721 while creating NEW USER)

Candidates are advised to bring original and two self-attested photocopies (Xerox copies) of the following documents during written test / interview:

    Copy of Email intimation received through Ph.D. admission portal
    Photo ID for verification
    UG consolidated marksheet/marksheets
    UG degree certificate
    PG consolidated mark sheet/ mark sheets
    PG degree certificate (if issued by the University)
    GATE/equivalent National level test scorecard (if qualified)
    Category certificate (if applicable)
    Proof of Awards/prizes
    Proof of publications/patents
    Forms 1 and 2 – Ph.D. Part time – External (R&D) candidates
    Form 3 – Ph.D. Part time – External (On campus) candidates

Kind attention of Candidates:
Written Test and Interview is tentatively scheduled during December 11-18, 2023.

Candidates are requested to kindly make their own travel arrangements. The institute shall not provide any allowance for travel or accommodation. Accommodation in hostels may be provided, upon request well in advance, for candidates from long distance. However, it is subject to availability and other constraints at that point of time.

Candidates may find directions to reach NIT Trichy on our website.

Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for Written test and Interview at NIT Tiruchirappalli during the scheduled dates December 11-18, 2023. Further, detailed schedule will be posted on website/email, and candidates are advised to check periodically.

Syllabus for GATE, or equivalent national level test, shall be followed for the Written test. Interviews shall be conducted by respective departments based on their requirements and suitability.

General Information and Instructions:
1 Please read the information brochure before Registration. Download it for ready reference.
2 Application fees should be paid through State Bank I-Collect before the deadline. You will have to submit the Challan number in the application form. Processing fee will be as per the number of departments applicant has applied to. If applied to 2 departments, application will be 2 x (Application fee per department according to category). Eg. If OC/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS: Rs.2000 (2 x Rs.1000) If SC/ST/PwD: Rs.1000 (2 x Rs.500)
3 If any information given in the application is found incorrect, the application will be rejected.
4 Use Google Chrome for better experience
5 Candidates are instructed to send the softcopy (PDF) of their finally submitted application (without enclosures) to phdadmission@nitt.edu with mail subject: PhD Application Jan 24 - UserID

Payment of Application Fees
1. Application processing fees per department preference for OC/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS is Rs. 1000
2. Application processing fees per department preference for SC/ST/PwD is Rs. 500
